As one half of avant-jungle outfit 4hero, Dego McFarlane has been one of the most influential electronic music producers of the last 15 years. 

He's put out proto-jungle records under his Tek 9 moniker as early as 1991. Most of the classic Tek 9 singles were re-released in 96 on SSR, as part of the It’s Not What You Think It Is !!?! double album.

In the latter half on the nineties, Dego has used Tek 9 as a vehicle to reconnect with his hip hop roots, first with that 96 album which was hailed as a milestone of abstract downtempo, and later with the "Simply" album, recorded in the US with a hosts of guest MCs.
