Mexican-American sound voyagers Allá have forged a distinctive sound encompassing some of their favourite styles of music from the last four decades: from German Krautrock experiments, Motown flourishes, Brazilian Tropicalia, and cosmic jazz to the symphonic sixties pop of Brian Wilson and Phil Spector
Based in Chicago, Allá consists of Jorge Ledezma (production, guitars, keyboards), Angel Ledezma (drums, percussion) and Lupe Martinez (lead vocals, guitar).
In Spanish, "Allá" means "over there", and is the word used by Chicanos when talking about their parents' homeland… and by Mexicans when talking ...
ALLÀ at Pitchfork Music Festival
They've been quiet since their rocking covers mini-album "Digs" last year, but Mexican-American sound voyagers Allà return in impressive style in July with an appearance at the Pitchfork Music Festival in their native Chicago. The band, whose debut album "Es Tiempo" dropped on Crammed in 2008, play on Sunday July 18, alongside acts including Pavement, Big Boi, Major Lazer and Lightning Bolt.
