One of the 5 bands who joined forces to create the Kasai Allstars collective.

Masanka Sankayi is fronted by dancers, singers and story-tellers Mbuyamba Nyunyi and Kabongo, who have been together since the Seventies. Mbuyamba the preacher is also an excellent bass likembe player. Unlike Konono's, his instrument is a 20" square box featuring half a likembe on each side and on which he sits in a foetus-like position.

Two of their pieces appeared in the Congotronics 2 album ("Buzz'n'Rumble In The Urb'n'Jungle"), and were recorded at Porte Rouge, in the Matonge district.
