"Bom Bom feat. Mayra Andrade"

This single announces the return of Batida (aka Pedro Coquenão), who feels that Bom Bom is his most personal song to date.

To be released on April 22 by Crammed Discs, the song talks about leaving a dark place and aiming for the individual and social good (“bom”). It was recorded with the precious collaboration of renowned Cape Verdean singer Mayra Andrade. The first meeting between Mayra and Pedro took place several years ago, but it was the confinement that brought them together. Exchanges of views on the planet, on values and on common words such as equity and dignity, melodies shared by sending audio sketches via mobile phones, all this ended up with a meeting in the studio, to transform this batida (literally “beat”) into a dance anthem.

Batida’s new album is scheduled for release in October.

Angolan born, Lisbon raised Pedro Coquenão (aka Batida), an artist referred to as a game changer on the Afro-Electronic scene, has not released an album of original tracks on his own since 2014. In the meantime, he completed a long international tour, recorded an album with the legendary Konono No.1, presented the performance “The Almost Perfect Dj”, exhibited his biggest installation yet at Africa 2020, in France, staged the musical IKOQWE, as part of his “Alojamento Artístico Local” at Casa Independente, released the album “The Beginning, The Medium, The End and The Infinite” by IKOQWE (his project un collaboration with Ikonoklasta), made videos and short movies, took hold of Padrão dos Descobrimentos (the biggest colonial monument in Portugal) by projecting his film “O Princípio, o Meio, o Fim e o Infinito” in 2021, concluded a four-year series of his radio program “Oceano Atlântico” on Antena 1 (Portugal) and RDP Africa, and started his monthly “Neon Colonialismo” broadcast on Worldwide FM.
