Recorded in 2002 in Rio de Janeiro at his own Geléia Geral studio (which he then ran in a partnership with Gilberto Gil) and released on Crammed's Ziriguiboom imprint, Natural was Celso Fonseca's first international solo album.

The wonderful and discreet guitarist/singer/composer was previously known by the aficionados for his work with Marisa Monte, Gilberto Gil, Bebel Gilberto and many more but, as far as his solo work was concerned, he was still one of Brazil's best-kept secrets.

Revisiting the very roots of bossa/samba, sporting an instrumentation purposefully stripped down to Celso's caressing sensual voice and magical acoustic guitar playing topped with percussion and acoustic bass, 'Natural' combines inspiration and limpidity, summoning up images of effortless elegance and style.

Natural features Celso singing some of his most recent and compelling songs as well as bossa standards such as Baden Powell's "Consolação" and Jobim's "She's a Carioca" (on which he duets with another then-fledgling Ziriguiboom artist: Cibelle).

Celso had invited some excellent musicians to play with him for the occasion: Robertinho Silva on drums and percussion (Robertinho is the drummer from Milton Nascimento's group), Daniel Jobim (Tom's grandson) on the piano and Jorge Hélder on bass (from Chico Buarque's group). Celso also used street recordings, for additional real Rio ambience.
