An absolutely charming, laidback & inventive album of French pop, which was definitely ahead of its time. Relaxed, grooving, featuring great lyrics, and  interesting DYI production blending electronics and performances by musicians from all over the world,

Ramuntcho was known so far for his work as a writer & producer, on Elli Medeiros’  latin-tinged hit singles, and on the albums he produced for  Don Cherry or for legendary poet Brion Gysin.

He’s also written soundtrack music (for a ballet by choreographer Régine Chopinot, for a video-opera by his father,  illustrious Chilean  painter  Roberto Matta.).

This album was his first & exciting outing as a front-person.

"2 L'amour" (phonetically meaning "Of Love") was recorded in Paris and Brussels, with the help of a colourful palette of guests, which Ramuntcho describes as follows:

“Sydney Thiam is a percussionist from Senegal, who has worked a.o. with the Talking Heads. He’s a master of trance.

Simon Spang-Hansen is Danish, he’s a jazzistic authority on saxophones and flute

Serge Salibur is a funk bass player from the Antilles, who has worked with me alongside Elli Medeiros.

Bachir is a psychiatrist from Ghana. Munir Dridi is a Moroccan filmmaker.

Sylvie and Marie are Zap Mamas. Dom Figaro is an actress.

Samia Ezzatour is part of the new generation of North African/French rappers (under the name of Siria Khan). Joao Balua is  a multi-instrumentist who lives in Lisbon, just like Celso, who teaches philosophy.

Chico Fernandez is from Cabo Verde, he’s a professional magician.

Satch is a Jamaican fro London, he’s a painter. So is Véronique Vincent.

Vincent Kenis is a “human being” as the Indians say; he can communicate music to any  instrument or machine. He disappears every once in a while and spends some time with the Pygmies,  to regain his sense of time.

I wrote the words, played guitars, bass, keyboards, machines and noises. And sang.

I produced and arranged the whole thing, and entrusted the additional production and mixes of some tracks to Marc Hollander and Vincent Kenis. I don’t think I’m too bad when I’m working for others, but I sometimes needed an external eye for my own songs...”
