"Freezone 6 - Fourth Person Singular"

22 exclusive tracks compiled by DJ Morpheus
SSR 227 2CD / 4LP deluxe boxed set

This year's edition of FREEZONE includes exclusive contributions from ALEX GOPHER, STACEY PULLEN, ISOLEE, LONDON ELEKTRICITY, JACK JONES (Dego vs. Josh Wink), RESTLESS SOUL (Phil Asher), AMBA (aka Tom Middleton) and MARK PRITCHARD (Jedi Knights/Global Communications), 16B, MAURICE FULTON, BULLITNUTS, CHATEAU-FLIGHT (Gilb-R vs. I : Cube) and more (see complete list). As usual, we can trust DJ Morpheus and his legendary flair to introduce us to the most interesting new trends and to the most important, cutting-edge artists of the coming couple of years...

'The Freezone series has been an excellent introduction to all manner of groovy electrolysis from around the world and this double pack continues that tradition in fine style. With contributions from 2 artist, the beats come mashed and monged up, with a smooth jazzy undercurrent throughout. Aim shows us why he's being lauded as the future of Brtish hip hop with "Lisbon", oldschool househead Maurice Fulton goes downbeat on "The Evil T" and Alex Gopher floats in those typically Gallic strings. Meanwhile, Global Communications' Mark Pritchard throws down a funky sci-fi Starsky & Hutch jam on "The Essence" while fellow lunar lounger Tom Middleton gets all horizontal in his Amba guise with "Moonbathing". Daniel Wang's "My 909 Blues" is the killer lick, all syrupy chords and velveteen Hammong riffs. Judging by such an eclectic line-up, it really is hard to distill into such a short space how good this is. Trust us on this one.' Kieran Wyatt, Urb (UK)

'This year's long awaited Freezone compilation ably lives up to the high standards set by its critically acclaimed predecessors. As usual it's a veritable who's who of house, techno and downbeat producers that has many individual highlights but still manages to gel colletively, which is no mean feat considering the ranges of styles on display. All killers and no fillers, each of the 22 tracks prove themselves to be excellent examples of their genre, while the flavour of the album is decidedly more jazz tinged than previous 'Freezone's. Notable contributions come thick and fast, and with names like Common Factor, Isolée, Alex Gopher, Daniel Wang and Restless Souls amongst others, it's a reassuringly expansive ensemble that oozes quality. This is one collection that'll still be relevant in years to come, and for that reason alone it deserves to be cherished. ****' Alex Moran, 7 (UK)

'Enter the good time zone - Now into its sixth year, the Freezone series has long been one of the finest underground, eclectic compilations you could hope to hear. Compiled by Belgium's DJ Morpheus, all the tracks are exclusives [a rarity in itself{] from some of the world's finest dance producers. This time round, the guests include leftfield house hero Daniel Wang, Grand Central's hip hop maestro Aim. Planet E's Common Factor, Alex Gopher and Restless Soul, in a something-for-everyone trawl through the freshest beats around.
The whole album in drenched with soothing sonics that make listening a pleasure~and something of a massage in one. Highlights include Gopher's loping Moving Fast Man and, above all, Isolee. Fresh from the underground success of Beau Mot Plage, their dubbed-out disco groover Pornonights proves it really is all good down at the Freezone HQ.*****' Muzik (UK)

Trax (France)
