Like many of today's producers, avant-jungle wizards Dego & Mark from 4 Hero (& Tek 9 & Jacob's Optical Stairway) have been profoundly influenced by the deep and soulful music which has been coming out of Detroit since 87-88.
Their personal way of paying a tribute to these great sung & unsung heroes of techno was to make the trip to Mo(tor) Town, meet some of them in person, and compile an album entitled 'The Deepest Shade Of Techno' which they released as a limited edition on their own Reflective offshoot back in '94.
After long months of hard work, 4 Hero have now put together a second compilation of Detroit techno, which includes many exclusive tracks.
This SSR release of 'The Deepest Shade Of Techno' comprises all the tracks from volumes 1 and 2 on a double CD. It's an exceptional and inspiring collection of unreleased or rare tracks by Detroit's best and deepest, including legendary producers such as Eddie Flashin' Fowlkes, Dan Curtin, Claude Young, Underground Resistance, as well as a host of lesser-known maestros, plus a few detroid creatures such as Josh Wink, Nu Era and A Guy Called Gerald.
