CRAMMED ARCHIVES 2 - RARE GLOBAL POP 1980S
People In Control - When Itâs War (1980)
The ephemeral indie-dub collective linked to This Heat, Family Fodder & ON-U Sound (UK)
The first single ever released by Crammed was this magical 3-track 7” by People In Control, a loose London collective centered around bassist & producer Martin Harrison (aka Martin Frederix, who also worked with Family Fodder and Adrian Sherwood, and later became Aswad’s sound engineer). The record features vocalists Judy Jude and Ian Hill (Family Fodder), drummer Rick Wilson (The Work), Buma Musawa and Michel (two percussionists from Cameroon), and guitarist Charles Bullen, from influential band This Heat (he would, much later, record a great album for Crammed subsidiary Language, under the Circadian Rhythms
